WIP Update

I am down to the last two chapters of my work in progress, Hunted Elements. Somehow, I went from 83,000 words in book 1 to probably 120,000 words in book 2. Guess I had more to say this time around.

This book has been very interesting to write. It’s my first foray into anything this dark or spicy, and I have to say, I really enjoyed those elements. At one point, I had to send my daughter a section to ensure I wouldn’t traumatize readers—or at least not too badly. For me, the dark and spicy elements had to be necessary to further the story. No shade to those who like their books chock full of triggers and spice—I get that sometimes that’s appealing. But that wasn’t the kind of story I was telling this time around.

However, I did want to make sure that in this battle between good and evil, the evil was dark enough that the reader truly feared for the good guys. If the stakes aren’t very high, neither is the interest. I hope I’ve accomplished that. We shall see.
